Mariam Issoufou and Cherise Lakeside, the host of Detailed Podcast, discuss the Venice Pavilion

In Episode 161 of Detailed Podcast, Mariam Issoufou sits down with Cherise Lakeside to discuss the Venice Pavilion, which was commissioned by Rolex for last year’s Venice Architecture Biennale.

Conceived as both an architectural gesture and a cultural offering, the 2025 Rolex Pavilion stood as an ode to sustainability, to Venice, and to the city’s enduring relationship with the art of making. Two-hundred-year-old timber beams salvaged from Venetian palazzi were reimagined as the pavilion’s walls, while locally crafted Venetian glass was formed into circular discs that compose the ceiling. Glass extends to the ground plane as well, where terrazzo flooring incorporates recycled Murano glass shards as aggregate.
